studies: self-portrait

note to self: thou shalt not plan to sleep, then suddenly decide to paint instead. i'm supposed to be up in 4 hours orz.

it -does- resemble me, but there's many flaws as well. like, the eyes are kind of fucked up, i look somewhat petrified and why do i look like i'm pouting...??

been a busy day. when i was doing the muscle study, i was distracted so many times. eg; by that cockroach that ran across my feet. which ensued in a chase where i'm holding a huge ass shieldtox. yes. i'm a cockroach murderer.

I think it's the first time I tried this technique; colouring in grayscale first and applying the colour via another layer (blending mode: Multiply). Hmm, took 2-3 hours? Though, more than half of the time I was failing wtf.

A practice on colour and observation of my favourite model, Gemma Ward.

I have a whole folder of reference pictures, and it's the first time I tried drawing them side by side in PS... and I think I should do this more often.

Photoshop, wacom bamboo and a couple of hours (although a big chunk of that time went to mindless staring at Cafe World on FB.... orz)
